About the Role:
As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll shape the technical direction of Filevine. You’ll architect and build systems that keep our platform fast, reliable, and ready for the future – from web applications to distributed backend services that power AI-driven experiences across the product.
This role is about solving the hard problems: the cross-team ones, the ambiguous ones, the “we’re not sure how to do this yet” ones. You’ll partner with engineering leadership, mentor teams, and raise the level of technical excellence across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Drive the design and delivery of complex, multi-team initiatives
- Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to define the long-term technical roadmap
- Architect scalable systems that support rapid growth and evolving product demands
- Solve high-impact technical challenges that unblock teams and accelerate execution
- Promote engineering best practices and push Filevine forward in modern development
- Mentor engineers across levels and help shape how we build, review, and ship software
- Collaborate across teams (and time zones) to deliver large projects without drama
Qualifications
- 3+ years building and shipping software products from idea → release → maintenance
- Experience leading projects or teams, designing scalable services, and making technical decisions with confidence
- Comfortable working across the stack – more focused on solving problems than guarding territory
- Thrives in a remote, collaborative environment (async communication, clear thinking, no ego)
- Able to partner with operations and customer-facing teams to turn messy realities into clean solutions
- Familiar with or open to using: Python, React, Typescript, Kubernetes, AWS
